Johanna Gluck is an interdisciplinary artist, designer, craftsperson and educator. In her work, she creates and interprets systems of order and value so that the essence of matter may be examined through context and experience. Themes of sustainability, materiality, industry, and exchange provide the architecture for investigations into generating meaning through creating and relating conditions and things.
Gluck holds a degree in Art History and Studio Art from Union College in Schenectady, NY, and studied glass at the Appalachian Center for Craft in Smithville, TN, before earning a MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Johanna currently integrates an abundance of materials into her work and continues to engage with glass as an educator, consumer and producer of material culture.
