Generate is a cumulative project that is designed to cultivate community and increase access to glass through material experimentation and social exchange. Employing the glass studio as an inclusive space to generate knowledge, participants discover and apply physical and conceptual properties of solid and blown glass through observation, experimentation, and memory.
In a safe and equitable environment, participants invent exercises and develop collaborative hot and cold glass projects in order to share analytical, observational and critical thinking skills. Together, we engage immediacy and process, using glass as a catalyst for creative exchange, personal growth, and community involvement; and create objects and experiences generated by collective participation. Projects and events emerge to explore material intelligence and open new pathways to artistic practice. Additionally, participants gain access to a growing network of class alumni, and the opportunity to virtually experience future generations of the workshop that they help create.
Generate is a platform to develop personal and inter-personal tools, and dismantle existing vernaculars to discover new knowledge, relationships and experiences through glass.
