Where Things GoI seek rhythm, thus I sort and group, organizing my thoughts and things. Shifting through categories in my mind, I scramble categories and contexts; changing rules and making room for surprise connections and information.
My intent is to transfer object-making to making sense of time and matter in space. In my studio practice, art and design become fluid, indistinguishable collaborators. The process of crafting objects applies to dismantling and re-designing systems, and my focus is on finding solutions for social and practical challenges in the every day. In the world that I inhabit, clutter and confusion are highly interesting systems for storage and rhythmic flow. I placed these trays in both the MFA Thesis Exhibition and the Architecture & Design Thesis Exhibition at the School of the Art Institution of Chicago as a means to question context, meaning and the boundaries between disciplines. |
